What scares, annoys and/or sometimes scares me is when I get asked, <strong>&#8220;What do you shoot?&#8221;</strong></span></p> <p><span>Cameras are a means. It used to attain a photograph. That is why I espouse the best camera is the one that is suited for the job, not the one that is with you. On the other hand, should I be labeled as a photographer based on what I shoot?</span></p> <p><span>I shoot many things. Cats I see on the street. Strangers going about their business. One of my best friends who is also a Model. My nerd friends.My Love. Material objects. Memories. Myself.</span></p> <p><span>Many things.</span></p> <p><span>But to say<strong><em> I photograph life</em></strong> is pretentious. Only the likes of Joel Meyerowitz can say that.<strong><em> I photograph anything</em></strong> is too large of a scope. That is Araki&#8217;s territory. Sometimes <strong><em>I photograph the street and I get lucky when it smells like the street</em></strong> but it is not as absolute to me as Gilden. I photograph what I feel like photographing.</span></p> <p><span>I guess I do photograph my life. Nobody cares about it more than me of course. Perhaps it is the same as John Sypal when puts it properly: <strong>&#8220;dealing with life through photography&#8221;</strong>. I still prefer my small film cameras for that purpose (My RF and Point and Shoot) but when you see a server picking her nose just before the dinner service starts, you will want to take that picture, no matter what camera you have. </p> <p>I used to be uber purist but I think now It doesn’t matter if the photo is made or taken, film or digital, or if it is art or personal.
