Whenever I walk around Ortigas, I always notice this tree. I don’t know what tree it is but I find it refreshing and unusual. Different from the place where it is planted.

My heart broke when I heard they destroyed the building it occupies (which was designed by a Filipino National Artist but that’s a different story) and I thought this tree will also be removed, so I was happy when I saw that it was the only green in the rubble.

But I was walking there last week and saw it wasn’t there anymore.

I was sad but as for everything in life, we have to move on and hopefully to better things.

Le Paper Globe is my latest project. It’s a template for a DIY paper terrestrial globe.

It all started last month, a first proof of concept, then another one with lots of corrections, then a webpage to host the project, some testing done by nice friends, lots of coffee, and voilà !

Don’t hesitate tot share, like, tweet, pin, tumble… but then, download the PDF and print/cut/fold and post your pictures!

I should do something photographic with this :)

Fuji Klasse W or the oversized point and shoot that is the Hexar AF.

Oversized, can be confusing to those who may not understand, but is very reliable and it just plain and simply works :)

A wee bit confusing since asking a question is different from seeking advice. I really didn’t catch the question.

But alas, forgive me for being a bit anal about it Anon. It is 1AM in my side of the world and I am being plagued by work and family problems.

Yes, I am thankful you came to me regarding this matter :)

As for the M4-P take note. If you don’t wear glasses, if you plan on buying lenses other than 50 and the 35, if you are planning on using that hotshoe, and if can live without a meter, then by all means grab that M4-P now :)

All else, buy an M3/M2/M4-2/M4 if you want a meter M6/M5 (M7 is ridiculous, the MP is perfect but waaay too expensive)

The M4-P is a very underrated Leica but it is still a Leica: buttery smooth advance, blissful sound of the cloth shutter, bright viewfinder, and the legacy of the rangefinder :)

Johann Espiritu’s last show I attended was Evil Postcards and Other Stories (If I could remember the title correctly)was a very enjoyable show. A point and shoot camera was used but it is not the snapshot aesthetic that you would typically see in say Japan or Punk Zines. It was very mundane but at its core, was just plain pleasing.

So yes, I am looking forward for Busted and hopefully to see more of the same but I am open to things that are more different :)

My sister’s favorite superhero is Spidey.

She thinks because out of all the heroes, he is the only hero that is the everyman and has the same struggles that we have but with the additional responsibility of being Spiderman. To the point that he earns his living by taking pictures of him taking down New York’s baddies (Self Portraiture levels that will rival that of Patrick Tsai and Ms. Yowayowa Camerawoman if you ask me).

I never thought of Spidey that way but I do dig the fact that he is a photographer. Maybe when he revealed himself as Peter Parker in Civil War, he should have joined Hyeres Festival or something :)

The 1st phrase was told to me by my friend TReiz after I showed him some photos after I seriously held a camera for the first time:

I didn’t know you were a street photographer!?

- Makati Ave. is a hidden gem for night time street photography.

- Saguijo has the crappiest lighting of any concert venue ever. It forced me to do one thing I never liked when shooting bands: Using the flash. I feel bad for the performers with flash booming in their faces.

- So the Phottix trigger only fires flash only when it wants to :( I just mounted the flash on the hot-shoe. I’m expecting flat images but we’ll see. Will post the results once I get the rolls developed.

- I already posted my (supposed to be) weekly column for Eric Kim Street Photography blog. This week, I talk about the importance of producing a body of work. Please do check it out!

- When out shooting, don’t forget to hydrate!!! H20, gatorade, Pocari Sweat, and etc. Prioritize health before your prioritize your pictures.\

- I am reminded again that at its core, why I do photography is because I like to do it. And Meeting other photographers shooting and talking about all things photography and otherwise is a great amazing bonus.

What I’m holding is an old kodak point and shoot film camera my mother used in the 90’s.

I still prefer using the Leica for almost everything but the versatility and my growing love of the snapshot aesthetic folks in Japan seem to pull off with their Olympus Mju or Ricoh GR point and shoots is where I draw inspiration nowadays.

It actually keeps everything simple and less fiddly. Just point, shoot, and have the roll developed.

Since you all know I am a fan of John Sypal's work, this reblog is for you guys to peep it. So please click the links and check it :)

I like the fact that I am now a bit confident in using flash on the street. But still, I’d prefer to have a 1600 ISO loaded into my M4-P with a ‘50cron or ‘35cron. I have no choice but to use flash when the sun goes down. One day, I’ll have that ‘cron :)
